Progress so far
Following on from presenting the ideas below to Simon Pithie (director of Bud by Designroom) I discovered that it has always been in the pipe line for the development of some football ducks and bears. We talked about developing a new range around this theme, with the aim of producing prototypes for early June, and the the production of a second batch for trade fairs with a view to maybe going on sale in October.
3 Themes and ideas for design concepts
Environmental/Garden(er) duck/Green fingers
A drive towards saving the planet is very much topical in our current climate. With Eco, environmental and recycling issues very much in vogue. The proposed designs would be implemented onto existing ranges and could be taken into consideration with product development.

Sport
There is not many of the current range that feature or are representative of sport, there are several sports that could be implemented amongst the current design ranges and in various forms, these include football, athletics, cricket, rugby, golf, snooker/pool, swimming and tennis. It is also a topical subject with the up and coming Euro championships and the Olympic games.
Customisation
Customisation is another big topic at the moment, with various make over shows and programmes such as pimp my ride proving to be very successful in the current consumer market. An idea would be that customers could design their own duck (for example) online. This could be for personal use or to personalise a gift for a friend and or loved one.

Initial Ideas - Bud Design
My initial ideas have been based around themes of sport, recreation and personalisation.
Cricket and the concept of going for a duck/out for a duck, running, pool and football have inspired the sports designs.
Another idea was the customisation of the duck (products), there could maybe be an interface online within which you can custom design your duck (product). Or the object could be plain and supplied with a colouring devise such as pens, paint and or stickers.
The personalisation element is continued with the phone charm idea, the decoration and individualisation of your phone. Keyrings.
Bags are a hot topic at the moment with the gradual decline of plastic bags.
Chav chic.
Changing colour (Heat sensitive).
Bud Brollies - Brighten up those grey days with a Bud Brollie.
Bud London - Beefeater bears/ducks/pigs, policemen etc.
Other product concepts - mugs, tea towels, oven mits.
Additional duck ideas - sound, light, clear plastic.
